Policies and Frequently Asked Questions
DIRECTIONS: CREATIVE DANCE CENTER is located in the beautiful Haller Lake Community Club in a residential neighborhood just off Aurora Avenue North. 12577 Densmore Avenue North is just south of the North 128th Street and Densmore Avenue North intersection. From Aurora Avenue North, go east on N 128th Street. Northbound on I-5, take the NE 130th Street exit. Southbound on I-5, take the NE 145th Street exit. From either exit, head west and turn south on Meridian N and west on N 128th. Plenty of free parking. CDC’s office is located next door to the north at 12583 Densmore Ave. N. Call Metro for convenient bus routes from your neighborhood.
DATES: Spring 2008 is a Fourteen-Week Session from Monday, February 25, 2008 through Monday, June 9, 2008. No classes March 31-April 5, 2008 or Monday, May 26. Adult classes run as 10 week sessions from January 7, 2008 through March 19, 2008 and March 24, 2008 through June 9, 2008. Spring break is from March 31-April 5, 2008. Nurturing Baby classes run from February 27, 2008 through April 19, 2008 (seven weeks) and April 23, 2008 through June 7, 2008 (seven weeks). Spring break is from March 31-April 5, 2008. Intergenerational Community Dance classes will be held on March 13, April 10, May 8, and June 12. Spring Break for all CDC classes, including Adult and Nurturing Baby, is March 31, 2008 through April 5, 2008. No classes on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, 2008. Monday Spring Session classes end on June 9, 2008.
PRE-REGISTRATION: Required to ensure a place in class. Registration in current classes does not guarantee a space in upcoming sessions. Full tuition sent with registration form is preferred. Classes without sufficient enrollment will be cancelled.
REFUNDS: No Refunds given unless CDC Administration is notified prior to the fourth week of classes. $5.00 processing fee will be levied.
FINANCIAL AID: Limited financial aid is available. Applications will be sent to you at your request and must be received at CDC with your pre-registration.
MISSED CLASSES: You may make up missed classes in any comparable class during the current session. Check the web schedule at www.creativedance.org to ensure the class you wish to attend is taking place. Snow Closures: CDC will be closed when Seattle School District has snow closures. Snow closure make-up classes will be scheduled.
DROP-INS & ADULT CLASS CARDS: DROP-INS: Youth Classes- Siblings or friends may attend on a one time, case-by-case, space available basis for $14.00. Bring exact change, please. Adult Classes- Adults may attend as drop-in students when space is available for $14.00.
WHAT TO WEAR: Adults- dance or exercise clothes; Girls- dance clothes such as leotards, dance skirts, etc., bare feet; Boys- sweat pants or shorts and t-shirts, bare feet; Toddlers- dance or play clothes, bare feet. Ballet shoes are required for Ballet class ages 7-16.
VISITING: A waiting area is provided outside of class during non-visiting days. If your young child is not ready to dance on their own, Parent/Child class may be more developmentally appropriate. Please call the Education Director at 363-7281 if you are unsure of appropriate class placement for your child or email terry@creativedance.org. Spring Session 2008-Parents are invited to observe class the 5th and 14th weeks of the session. Join us for visiting weeks Spring Session March 24-29 and June 3-9, 2008.
FIELD TRIPS: CDC offers special one-hour creative dance classes for preschools; homeschool groups; Brownie, Girl Scout, Boy Scout, and Campfire troops; and other special interest groups. Classes include an age appropriate BrainDance and conceptual creative dance activities utilizing a wide variety of props and music. The fee for a one hour field trip is $85.00. Cancellation policy: we require one week notice of cancellation. If one week notice is not given there is a $40 cancellation fee. BIRTHDAY PARTIES: Celebrate a birthday in a unique way with one of the Creative Dance Center’s talented and creative teachers! CDC faculty present an age appropriate creative dance class which will include the BrainDance and fun activities utilizing a wide variety of props and music. After a 45 minute creative dance class, a room is available for refreshments provided by the host family. Birthday parties are booked on studio space and teacher availability. Birthday party fee is $140.00 for up to 15 guests. Length of party time is one and a half hours. Payment is due upon scheduling. Cancellation policy: when one week notice of cancellation is given, there is a $40 cancellation fee. If one week notice is not given, the full payment will be retained by the Creative Dance Center. BRAINDANCE: Developed by CDC Founder Anne Green Gilbert, the BrainDance is included in every class as a warm-up and introduction to the dance concept. The BrainDance sequences through the eight fundamental movement patterns of early human development which wire the central nervous system. BrainDance connects and aligns all parts of the body, brings blood and oxygen to the brain and muscles, and helps us to center and focus.
